We thank all applicants for their interest in The Gambia Law School.
The Gambia Law School was established in 2011 by the General
Legal Council. It was not until 2016 that it acquired
statutory recognition pursuant to the Gambia Law School Act
2016. Under the said Act, the Gambia Law School is mandated to
train persons seeking to become legal practitioners, ensure
continuing professional development for all cadres of the
legal profession, provide other specialised training in the
legal sector, and undertake projects, research, and
consultancies.
The General Legal Council is the supervisory body of the
Gambia Law School. The Council regulates admission to legal
practice in The Gambia. The school is headed by a Director
General who is assisted by an Academic Board. The Board
advises the school on the development of curricula, conducts
examinations, and regulates and supervises the discipline of
students.
To be the leading institution for professional legal training in The Gambia and the sub-region.
To promote the rule of law and access to justice through professional legal training, research, consultancies, and advocacy for legal practitioners, policy makers, and the public.
